Unlike instruments, singers perform text. Vocal music is the alignment of word, rhythm, and pitch. How you choose to align these elements makes an enormous difference in whether or not your vocal music–and the text you set–will be sung expressively and understood by audiences. This workshop will delve into how vowel and consonant sounds map onto vocal range, how words and sentences map onto meter and rhythm, and why these are the essential elements to writing music singers love to perform.
